Chepstow Castle / Castell Cas-Gwent

Dean Farm Trust

This animal charity is the perfect place for vegan travellers to give back when visiting Chepstow. Dean Farm Trust is a renowned sanctuary that’s dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of farmed animals. The Trust hosts regular open days and events where visitors can pay a trip to the sanctuary to learn the animals’ stories, information on how they care for them and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the farm and surrounding area. Chepstow Museum

Set within an enchanting 18th-century townhouse, the Chepstow Museum displays a varied collection of artifacts, photos, and displays that narrate the town's history from its Roman beginnings to its industrial heritage. Additionally, the museum hosts rotating exhibits and educational initiatives, making it a magical experience for all ages. Admission to Chepstow Museum is free, and it’s open every day except Wednesdays.

Wye Valley Walk

Make sure you pack your walking shoes when visiting Chepstow because one attraction you can’t miss out on is the stunning Wye Valley Walk. This picturesque walking trail follows the length of the River Wye, providing walkers with stunning panoramas of the nearby rural landscape. Connect with nature while wandering through age-old forests, rolling hills, and delightful villages that are nestled along the riverside.

Vegan restaurants in Chepstow

Are you feeling hungry? As a vegan, you’ll be spoilt for choice in Chepstow thanks to the number of vegan-friendly cafes and restaurants nearby. 

Coffee #1

This coffee house has a variety of options including a chickpea sandwich, vegetable tart, lentil spinach dahl and a burrito. They also have a few vegan-friendly desserts such as blackcurrant crumble and apple cinnamon bake. Hot drinks can also be made with plant milk.

Stone Rock Pizza

This pizza restaurant has lots of vegetarian pizzas listed on its menu that can be veganised by swapping the mozzarella with vegan cheese.

Woodsaw & Wheel Country Kitchen

Located within Abbey Mill Tintern, this country kitchen has a few vegan options listed on its menu, including a vegan curry pie and jacket potato with baked beans.

Hips Social Lydney

This family-run coffee shop and eatery is located in nearby Lydney which is a short drive from Chepstow. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, all of which include vegan options to sink your teeth into.

The Globe Inn Alvington

Located in between Chepstow and Lydney, this pub has plenty of vegan offerings on its evening menus, including a beetroot burger, soup of the day and veggie Thai curry. They can also veganise their apple and berry crumble for dessert.

The Queen Inn

The Queen Inn is the world’s first fully vegan steakhouse! You can taste a variety of plant-based steaks, as well as other dishes such as lasagnas, burgers and more. This pub is located in nearby Cwmbran, but it’s worth the drive.

SUPA Thai Vegan

SUPA Thai Vegan is a fully vegan Thai restaurant located in Newport, just a short trip from Chepstow. They serve traditional Thai comfort food with modern twists, such as chick'n and chickpea massaman, tofu tom yum noodles, garlicky chick'n, spring rolls, and more.

  • Lounges - a national bistro chain that is due to open in Chepstow in April 2024 with an extensive vegan menu.

Where to stay in Chepstow as a vegan

The George Hotel

This hotel is housed in a 19th-century stone building in the historic town centre, and is only a 6 minutes walk from Chepstow Museum. Vegan options are available on request.

The Wye Valley Hotel

Located in nearby Tintern, the Wye Valley Hotel is able to accommodate vegan guests as they prepare most of their food fresh.

Coach & Horses Inn

This hotel is a former coaching inn which has been recently refurbished. We’ve heard they can accommodate vegan guests on request, so don’t forget to call ahead.
