The Best Things To Do in Salisbury

Historic Salisbury is full of iconic treats for the eyes and mouth!

We’ve put together this guide of the best things to do in Salisbury - including the fantastic sights, the top vegan places to eat, and finishing off with stunning places to stay in and around Salisbury. Let’s explore!

The best sights to see in Salisbury

Stonehenge

One of the world’s great wonders, and located just a mere 9 miles from Salisbury, Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument - standing tall for 4,500 years. You can visit Stonehenge via English Heritage, or for a more budget-friendly option, you can walk the 5-mile circular walk from Woodhenge for free!

If you decide to visit through the English Heritage site, you can access the exhibition with the entry fee. The onsite cafe has a range of vegan items - including vegan sandwiches, pasties, no-sausage rolls, and soups.

The Stonehenge tour route includes Old Sarum - one of the most historically important sites in southern England. There’s a fee to get into the ruins, but you can walk around the grounds for free and visit the site of the original Salisbury Cathedral. No cafe here though, so you’ll need to pack some drinks and snacks!

How to get there: Either by car or you can catch one of the regular buses from Salisbury town centre.

Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral boasts England’s tallest spire - standing at over 400ft.

To visit this outstanding cathedral (which houses the best-preserved of four remaining copies of the Magna Carta, no less), you need to pay to go inside - but you can walk around the rolling lawns of the close grounds and the cloisters for free.

How to get there: Salisbury Cathedral is served well by local train and bus routes, or take your own vehicle and explore everything Salisbury has to offer.

There is a restaurant onsite, but there’s not much in the way of decent vegan options, so our advice is to head into Salisbury town centre for plenty of other options:

  • Fisherton Mill - Gallery, Cafe and Artist Studios

  • Fudgehenge at Rolys - A must-visit! We’re big fans of their vegan fudge - available in chocolate orange, maple and cashew, and salted maple and pecan - mmmm.

  • Blueberry Den - If you’re a fan of zero-waste shops, you’ll love Blueberry Den! Expect refills, whole foods, kitchen products, and even gift ideas.

  • Scent and Colour - A fully vegan perfume shop selling scents made with natural essential oils.

  • Catherine Street - Another must-visit if you’re an eco-friendly shopper that loves charity and antique shops.

  • Visiting our Vegan Fair in Salisbury is the perfect way to spend the day, even if you're not vegan it’s a great way to support local and independent businesses. Everyone is welcome to come along to our events, whether you’re vegan, veggie, or just v-curious!

While you’re in Salisbury, why not give your adrenaline a boost and visit the Escape Rooms
