Event Manager Position.

The background.

Vegan Fairs is looking for an experienced Event Coordinator who can help oversee and manage our vegan fairs and markets across the South West of England.

In 2023 we are expanding our events programme to over 35 events in 10 different locations. The majority of our events are now outdoor events, taking place in town and city centres although we do also have a number of indoor events planned too.

Our events showcase a range of independent businesses selling a variety of products and services from street food to cakes, cruelty free skincare to arts and crafts, eco-friendly homeware to ethical fashion brands.

The Role.

We are looking for someone bright, switched on and keen to learn all aspects of event management, continue to nurture the existing trader relationships we have and help ensure the smooth delivery of our vegan fairs and markets.

Accountabilities. 

We are a very small team so you will report directly to the Vegan Fairs founder Daisy, working closely with them and the other event managers to understand the physical side of our events and our trader relationships. 

Key Responsibilities.

  • Oversee and manage our fairs and markets onsite

  • Ensure all the traders set up and pack down correctly and safely

  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are in place

  • Be the first aid point on site (training can be offered if required)

  • Represent Vegan Fairs when liaising with traders and customers

  • At some events hand out free samples to customers

  • Report back any incidents and feedback to Vegan Fairs

Core Competencies.

The candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • A natural flair for communication and building relationships with traders and customers

  • Enthusiasm for veganism and events

  • An innate desire for organisation

Qualifications.

  • You will need a full UK driving license as you will need to travel to events

  • First Aid Training preferred (but training can be provided if needed)

Relevant experience.

  • Proven experience of effectively managing events or projects

  • Experience working in a customer facing role

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm and collected

Salary and hours.

Offered on a freelance basis depending on what events you are able to work. Event Managers get paid £150 for a days work plus travel and food expenses.
